Persistence of Memory Memoir Writing Workshop
Thursday, December 8, 10:00 am – 12 noon
Margo Hammond, former book editor of the St. Petersburg Times and founder of the Creative Late Bloomers blog, will conduct a workshop using specific Dalí paintings and writings as catalysts for memoir writing. After studying the paintings in class, participants will be encouraged to mine their own pasts, particularly their childhoods, refine those memories and artistically transform them into a story that reflects their personal experiences – just as Dalí did both on the canvas and on paper.

Live Music Series in the Plaza: The Jim Morey Band

Free afternoon music series, live from the plaza between the Mahaffey Theater and the Dali Museum.

This week's live entertainment: The Jim Morey Band is a 4 piece band playing original jazz flavored roots and funky music with one hand in Storyville, New Orleans and the other picking confetti out of Tom Wait's old hat. www.jimmorey.com

Cost: Free to all. Series occurs every Friday in April and May. Street parking is available or $5 in covered parking garage between Mahaffey Theater and The Dali Museum. Pets, chairs, umbrellas and blankets are allowed. No alcoholic beverages. Attendees can create their own picnic, “brown bag” lunch, purchase an affordable, delicious snack or sandwich from local vendors or get a lunch "to go" at Cafe Gala at the Dali.

New Series @ the Dali - Our Town: Conversations with St. Pete Mythmakers: Jeanne Clark Meinke, Visual Artist and Peter Meinke, St. Pete's Poet Laureate

Thursday, May 26, 6:30 - 7:45 pm Our Town is a once-a-month conversation with a notable St. Pete mythmaker. Host Dr. Carol Mickett, philosopher and artist, will converse with these local heroes about their visions, accomplishments, and contributions to shaping the identity of our town.

Where else but at the Dali Museum - which showcases the mythmaking of artist Salvador Dali - to honor the people of our city and its surroundings who are building the greatness which is St. Petersburg? This month's guests are Jeanne Clark Meinke, Visual Artist and Peter Meinke, St. Pete's Poet Laureate.

Cost: Free to all. Series takes place in the Theater. Come early for tapas and copas at Cafe Gala.

The Florida Orchestra and The Studio@620: A Night of Dalí & Music  
Wednesday, January 5, 7:00 p.m. at The Studio@620, 620 First Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL 33701 

Explore the link between art and music of the 20th century in saluting Salvador Dalí. The program will include several surreal surprises including special performances of "Party Pieces: Sonorous and Exquisite Corpses" by composers John Cage, Henry Cowell, Lou Harrison, and Virgil Thompson; readings from "Little mi-ma Monsterlet" and "Frankenstein", plus a performance from "Nine Surrealist Studies (After Salvador Dali)" #3 Persistence of Memory. The program is a prelude discussion to “Hello Dalí”, the Florida Orchestra – Dalí Museum Grand Opening Celebration as well as part of the second season of "An Intimate Collaboration II: The World We Live In", at The Studio@620.

Suggested donation of $10 payable at the door.
