Universal Orlando Resort's Military Salute program has been extended, according to a news release. The program offers one free seven-day base ticket with park-to-park access to active duty and retired service members, National Guard members, and reservists with a valid military photo I.D.
Immediate family members can purchase discounted tickets with a valid military photo I.D. The theme parks included are Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. The tickets are sold at military bases and are valid through March 26.

Caladesi Island - best beach in the US
Amazingly enough the best beach in the USA is in Florida and is easily accessible from Orlando - about 100 miles away. Caladesi Island is north of Clearwater and is a timeless gem in the gulf, but is accessible by private boat or via the Caladesi Connection ferry service. Cost for the ferry is $9 for adults and $5.50 for children. Trips depart hourly beginning at 10 a.m. Ferry passengers are allotted a four-hour stay on the island, so plan accordingly if you plan to participate in a guided walk. Alternatively you can walk the 3 miles! You catch the ferry from Honeymoon Island which also has a nature walk to the north of the island.
